Learn Hula Hoop Fitness & Dance | Vlog 6 | The Helicopter Spin
There are so many off the body movements when it comes to hula hoop dance. However, I can’t stress enough the importance of mastering the building blocks of these moves before jumping into other lessons. Being strong in these beginner classes will not only give you confidence in learning other tricks, but it will also make learning more intermediate movements easier in the long run. This class is all about the Helicopter Spin! This spin is so beautiful in dance, and it’s also a great arm and wrist workout! The more you do it, the stronger your arms will be and you will build coordination.
What to Expect:
In this class we will begin the lesson by practicing a simple hand pass above the head. This hand pass will get you comfortable with having the hoop over the head, and it will also build momentum so the hoop will spin around the hand eventually creating the helicopter spin. (You can build arm and wrist strength by simply doing this hand pass exercise as well. ) Once we learn how to spin the hoop around our hand from the hand pass using basic hand position and grip techniques, then I will teach you how to start the helicopter from a neutral position that can be used in your dance!
Hula hoop dance opens the heart and mind, and gets you moving your body in ways that you may not be used to. To deepen your flexibility, breathing, focus, and become stronger in body and mind you can practice yoga! Yoga Download offers a wide array of classes for all different people and needs. You can take classes right on your computer or smart phone and practice in the comfort of your home.
Yoga is also a great way to stretch out and limber up before practicing hoop. Remember, it’s incredibly important to warm up and stretch to avoid any kind of injury! I also have a stretching flow class that you can utilize for warm up and cool down.
