Benefits of Natural Toothpaste
There are so many different hygiene products available on the market today. Toothpaste is of course one of the most important products that consumers purchase and use. So I got to thinking, we use this paste day in and day out, but we never stop to consider what it’s made of, or how it could be effecting our bodies. When we use un-natural products on our skin, or in this case gums and teeth some of the product is actually absorbed through our skin cells which then enters our blood streams. Not to mention there is no getting around swallowing toothpaste or mouthwash every now and again, even if we don’t try to. Toothpastes containing fluoride and other chemicals can end up being very harmful to our bodies in the long run, so let’s talk about the benefits of natural toothpaste as an alternative!
According to Medical News Today, excessive exposure to fluoride in toothpastes can cause a multitude of problems including Skeletal fluorosis, a bone disease that can over time increase your chances of pain and damage to bones. It can cause problems with the thyroid gland, by depleting the amount of calcium in the bones making them weaker, and increasing calcium in the blood stream. It can even cause acne, and in some cases a multitude of cardiovascular problems. So with all of that said, let’s look at an alternative.
Natural toothpastes have all-natural ingredients that still clean, and whiten teeth and keep gums healthy without all the nasty chemicals! They contain ingredients such as, coconut oil, baking soda, charcoal, and different essential oils that are safe for our bodies and won’t cause any long term side effects.
